If you are able to overlook the significant decline in activity
days hours remaining
If you are able to overlook the significant decline in activity, you will notice that activity has decreased to a tepid level towards the end of graph. Also, activity hasn't decreased much over the past year-and-a-half with real players. Although there has been a decline in perceived activity, the decrease in the number of regular players has been minimal.
Does this mean Runescape isn't dying? Not necessarily. If it's dying, it is dying a lot slower than people make it out to be. In the last year and half, Runescape lost 3 activity points from Google Trend. As a contrast, Runescape lost 43 Google Trend activity points between July 2009 to January 2011. This is also a time period of about a year and half. People who are planning to attend Runescape's funeral should not anticipate taking leave from working in the near future.
Jagex has a new beta event to test the Mad Scientist costume, and it's Barrows this time. It's difficult for those with low levels of skill or those with lower levels to finish the final portion. However, for those at medium levels, it shouldn't be difficult.
It's a lot harder than I thought, I've tried it (65 att, str, def) with just melee (didn't think of having runes to use to use slayer darts or something more powerful than melee). And completely failed with Ahrim which is supposed to be a breeze, but I couldn't hit the guy at all (the only hits came from my deflect prayer, I believe).
If you are having difficulty doing this event I suggest you kill the brothers using normal Rs. And once you can enter the tunnels, you must log out and log in to the beta, and then complete the rest (I was able to loot the chest and obtain the last piece without killing the last brother, for whatever reason).
