Police identify corpse in Bayelsa hotel

The Bayelsa State Police Command has confirmed the identity of a corpse found in a hotel along Igbogene community in Yenagoa Local Government Area of the state to be that of a commercial sex worker.




According to the Police, the deceased was a 22-year-old commercial sex worker living at “Ashawo Quarters” along Okarki community, a neighbouring town to Bayelsa State.

The confirmation of the identity of the corpse has put to rest the claims that the deceased was a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

The Police Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, Musa Mohammed, confirmed that the incident has triggered a forensic investigation to unravel the identity of the suspected killers.


Mohammed disclosed that the deceased lodged in the hotel with a partner suspected to be an Internet fraudster popularly known as Yahoo boy, who is now on the run.

“The deceased is identified as Miss Francisca Otu, 22 years old and an Indigene of Omubo community in Akwa Ibom State.

“A receptionist at the Favour Home Guest House, Rachael Adaora, called the police to inform us that the body of the deceased was found naked and lifeless in one of the rooms.

“The DPO led a team of policemen from Igbogene Police Division to the scene and evacuated the corpse” he said.
