Cayo Levantado Resort is a resort of only suites. There are 219 rooms, including stand-alone villas, 12 of which are exclusively for adults and have direct beach access. The suites are categorized into many types, beginning with a Junior Suite, which encompasses 575 square feet and has a king-size bed, ample interior and outdoor seating spaces, and a private balcony. Family rooms have private plunge pools on the terrace and stunning coastal views.
The interior elements of the geometry dash suites are crafted by local artists, including Guayacán wood coasters and trays, as well as bespoke sconces designed to resemble palm tree leaves. Dominican architect and designer Ramón Emilio Jiménez drew inspiration from the island, with the room designs reflecting the coast, the sea, and the island's flora and wildlife.
Cayo Levantado has four restaurants and six bars, including an oceanfront Japanese-Peruvian restaurant named Carey. Another notable feature is Santa Yuca, an informal dining establishment situated in the center of the island, next to a vegetable garden. Santa Yuca has a slow food philosophy, emphasizing the preparation of meals with fresh, sustainably obtained local ingredients. I appreciated the grilled watermelon salad accompanied with avocado cream and feta cheese crumble. The menu is categorized into four sections — refresh, restore, relax, and renew — which align with each guest's selected health journey throughout their stay. Santa Yuca and Carey are included in the resort's all-inclusive package.
Manaya, a steakhouse, and Senda, a traditional Dominican restaurant, are both excellent; nevertheless, patrons are required to settle their bills individually at both establishments. Senda offers customers a gastronomic experience via a meticulously designed seven-course tasting menu ($160), inspired on the poem "There is a Country in the World" by Dominican poet Pedro Mir. The experience starts with a welcome drink of sparkling wine, limoncello, and acacia honey, inspired by the tropical woods of the Dominican Republic. It proceeds with grilled Sanchez shrimp and beet ravioli accompanied by local goat cheese, culminating with succulent leg of lamb, roasted overnight.
The extensive selection of wines offered at the ten bars and restaurants includes several choices from Spain (the resort is owned by the Spanish hospitality firm Grupo Piñero), France, Argentina, and California. The island's two pools, full-service beach club, and three white-sand beaches may entice you to spend much of your time basking in the sun and swimming in the Caribbean's turquoise seas; but, Cayo Levantado's distinctiveness lies in its dedication to wellness.
Yubarta, the spa center of Cayo Levantado, serves as the focal point of the resort, situated within verdant tropical gardens. The facility includes many open-air recreational areas, a leisure zone with chaise couches, an artificial cenote, a meditation room, an atelier, and a nutrition studio.
The resort's daily itinerary may include breathwork, yoga, boot camps, meditation, shamanic healing, pilates, cold treatment, sound baths, painting, and more activities. A cadre of expert teachers is available to assist visitors in attaining their health objectives and establishing habits that may be incorporated into their daily lives post-vacation.
